How to Control Vaginal Discharge

Female vaginal discharge is fairly normal, but some women’s have a heavier discharge which fluctuates around their monthly menstrual cycle.

Here are various ways to control vaginal discharge:

a. Wear cotton underwear because it will help you absorb moisture and because “cotton breathes,” it will allow air to circulate down there.

b. Do not douche all the time and because doing this on a normal basis will only alter the pH balance of the vagina.

c. Do not use vaginal deodorants and sprays; yes, these products will make your womanly area smell nice but they usually cause irritation.

d. Always use un-scented tissue/toilet paper because perfumes can cause irritation and actually increase vaginal discharge

e. See your physician if you notice that your vaginal discharge is becoming heavier than usual because this could be a sign of infection.

f. Change your brand of oral contraceptives if you notice that your vaginal discharge has unexpectedly increased when you started taking them.

g. Wash your vagina with anti-bacteria soap and doing this will keep your vagina clean and control discharge.
